Gatherings and contemplative practices

In partnership with the Interfaith Contemplative Center

Each gathering is an opportunity to slow down, listen deeply, and engage in sacred rhythm that restores compassion, peace, and presence.

Timeless Tuesdays

Each Tuesday at 11:30, all are welcome to gather to pray together for the needs of the world, and for each other. In the tradition of anointing with oil and laying on of hands, we invite healing and peace into our own lives and the whole of creation. The service continues with sharing bread and wine as we remember Emmanuel — God with us. Immediately following is a 30-minute Centering Prayer time as we join with those on Zoom from around the world praying in silence for compassion, mercy, and truly restorative justice.

Spiritual companioning

The ancient art of spiritual companioning is the healing work of deep listening. Certificated spiritual companions are available by appointment at the ICC to sit with you, and deeply listen with you for the words and work of the Sacred Spirit within you. Companions do not give advice, and are not counselors or therapists; rather they watch and wait and wonder with you for the invitations, the intimations, and the possibilities of unfolding grace in your life — grace that heals, strengthens, and illumines purpose and meaning. Typically, meetings are held monthly. Spiritual companions are remunerated for the time and training they bring to these moments. Contact Julia at +1 702-268-6414 for more information.

Going deeper

On the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 9:30am–12:00, an opportunity for a mini-retreat is offered. Each month has a teaching focus on an aspect of the contemplative life. The format engages the practice of Lectio Divina, meaning “divine reading,” a meditative way of engaging sacred text. Through slow, prayerful reading, reflection, and silence, the words move from the mind to the heart and become a living conversation with the Spirit. Led by Ken Larson and other staff from the Center, this is a beautiful introduction to the contemplative way of seeing and being in our life-world.

Indoor labyrinth walk

At the heart of the Contemplative Center is an indoor labyrinth, a single, winding path that leads inward and then back out again. Unlike a maze, it has no dead ends and is designed as a meditative practice that quiets the mind and opens space for reflection, prayer, and insight. The Interfaith Contemplative Center invites you to take part in guided labyrinth walks that move through a gentle three-stage rhythm: releasing distractions on the way in, receiving reflection or inspiration at the center, and carrying what emerges back into daily life. Each walk provides time for reflection and the cultivation of inner peace.
